Practice schedules changes due to teachers so please check the FB page or Team Reach App for the schedule of practie that weekend. We run Slack in Barrels, Poles, and Team Roping on Saturday Nights at 6pm. You must be signed in by 5PM in order to run.
Sunday Performances begin at 10am You must be signed in by 9AM in order to participate. We have over 200 contestants in the 2024 season so the days are longer, but so much fun.
New to all of this? Wondering what you need to be doing when you get to the grounds? Here is a simplified itinerary to help you through the weekend.
Friday night
5pm - camping opens up and you can pull in (if your early or late we don't really complain. Grab a spot (make sure you look at the grounds map on team reach to see where camping is) and settle in. Run to the dollar general across the street or the amazing guys and gals at the Midway Gas Station just down the road to get the things you forgot to bring along. Set up Camp and get those horses settled in and feel free to walk around and meet new people or just relax your in for a long weekend. If you have a stall reserved you will be looking for the buiding on the south east side of the property that says "Livery" the stalls are in there. Water hoses are out behind the backpens by the paddocks to fill your water. Ask, someone can send you in the right direction.
WE MAY HAVE SOME PRACTICES ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, IF SO IT WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON TEAM REACH AND FACEBOOK.
Saturday Practice day and Slack
Saturday at 7AM the secretary booth will open. Make your way there with your membership paperwork (We have them at the desk if you don't print at home) and your kids (we like to meet them and get to know them) . Get them signed up for practice and their memberships or day passes all settled in to have a great weekend.
8AM Practice starts! There will be a practice schedule posted to FB and Team Reach prior to the weekend. That will be the order of practice for that weekend. Some practices in 2024 may be held on Friday nights. This will be posted prior to the weekend.
4PM make your way up to the secretary booth to get signed in for slack. You have 1 hour (From 4 to 5) to sign up and pay for your events, or scratch from slack. You must be in full wester attire starting at 5PM for the evening events.
5PM the secretary booth will be closed. If you are not signed up for slack and paid, you will not be running in those events. Books close at 5PM. This gives us enough time to prepare the sheets for the show.
5PM the arena will be open for a short period of time if available. We have to prepare for the upcoming slack and open arena will be available if possible, but this is subject to change.
6PM Slack Starts with Grand Entry then we will move to Poles, Slack barrels and Slack Team Roping.
7PM the secretary booth will open up for you to make changes to Sundays performance. If you child decided they loved something in practice and want to add it to performance on Sunday or they didn't like something and want to scratch it this is the time to make those changes!!! You can also pay your entries for Sunday at this time to make sure that you are ready bright and early for Sundays show. You can also complete your membership paperwork at this time.
10PM kids are expected to be back at a trailer for quiet time to wind down from the day. Sunday is a long day and they really need that sleep the night before a show.
11PM we expect all contestants to be under the watchful eye of the parents. Music should be at a low murmur and its probably time to be in bed. YOU ARE NOT TO BE WANDERING AROUND THE RODEO GROUNDS AFTER 11PM. If you are found to be out and about you will face disciplinary actions.
Sunday Performance
7:30AM the secretary booth opens up. Get up there asap as its the first show and there will be lots of people trying to get signed up and moving for the day. Get your kids signed up and entry fees paid before 9AM.
9AM the secretary booth closes and books close. If you are not signed in by 9am you will not participate in the events of the day. IF you have an issue (breakdown, blown tire) You must call the call in number 616-482-7685 and let them know before 9am so that changes for emergencies can be made and we know you still plan to attend but there is an issue).
9AM You should be in full western attire at this time. Book close and no more entries are accepted for the performance.
10AM THE SHOW STARTS!! Parents, sit back and enjoy the show. Kids, be ready to have a great time with great attitudes and lots of good clean competition and fun! This is supposed to be fun. I know we post a lot of rules and regulations but those are for the benefit of your safety and our sanity! So please if you have any questions ask someone. Don't be shy. We are all here to work together to make this happen.
We have 200+ kids running anywhere from 1 to 9 events... We keep it moving as best as possible but you have to be on top of it as well! Check your draws, listen for your names, and we can all have a great time together in this sport of RODEO!
